Care home visits before the football

Audrey was always a part of my life from being a kid in the 1950s.

My Auntie Jean and Audrey were close friends from childhood, and Audrey was always there at family get togethers, making us all laugh. She was so funny and jolly.

It was great to be able to continue that contact through into my 70s, and even while living in Devon.

Harry Sotnick House was en route from where I parked to walk to Fratton Park.

I loved the way her Pompey memorabilia collection grew until her room became central to a Pompey area of the home.

She had a simple ambition - to get a telegram from the Queen on her 100th birthday. No one doubted that she would get it until Covid19 appeared on the horizon.

It is just so sad.
